Emphasis/Contrast- Emphasis makes a focal point in design which is done to draw attention to the most important part of the design. Contrast, something the opposite of the rest, is used for emphasis to make something easier to be seen. Proximity/Groupings and Visual Hierarchy- Proximity and Groupings are used to evenly space elements in a photo to make one group. This is used to make an image. When a element is not in the group and is alone it is seen as the focal point. Visual Hierarchy is used to show the important piece of the design (like focal points.) Balance- Balance is when the photo has evenly distributed elements which can be seen as even with an invisible vertical axis line. Alignment- Alignment is the idea that everything in your design is placed for a reason and there is not something random in it. The invisible line is also used to see if there is anything odd in your design. Harmony/Proportion- Harmony is the idea that in the design, elements are proportional in color, size, and there is something that makes the elements link together and make something nice together. White Space- White space (negative space) is the untouched space of a design. It does not always have to be white, it is just a solid color that fills the rest of the design that is not used. White space is used for creating elegance in the photo and also used to showed a shape is pictures, text, etc. Repetition- Repetition is the repeating of a element to create a pattern with the same exact element or with a different colored element. Color and the Color Wheel- Color is the difference in light reflecting off a surface into our eyes. The color wheel is a wheel used to order the colors with warm to cool tones. Color wheels can be simple with just the three tiers (primary, secondary, and tertiary) or complex with even more colors Rule of Thirds- The Rule of Thirds is a rule that states if you draw 4 lines (two horizontal and two vertical) creating 9 equal rectangles, you can make the design easier for people to spectate.
